Thermal Imager Up-Dated Damage to our thermal imaging camera at a fire in February rendered our thermal imaging camera useless. It was sent to the repair center for assessment and repairs were estimated to cost $6,000.00. We expressed that this was the second time that this camera had this similar problem and how displeased we were with the camera’s lack of lasting performance. The persistent expressions of a lack of confidence in the camera resulted in the company agreeing to restore the camera with a new “Core” processor with all of the current up-grades. We expect the camera to be returned any day now. The cost of this camera new was $12,000.00.

Request to Raze Training Tower I would like to request permission to raze the training tower behind the Ohio Street Station. The building is suffering the effects of the persistent erosion of the river bank and we no longer feel that it is safe to use for training purposes. When the tower was initially built 15-years ago, there was 3 ½ - 4 feet of ground between the building and the crest of the river bank, the crest of that river bank is now within 1-foot of the training buildings footer and the building has step-cracking in the footer and concrete block, as well as roof separation damage. We will need to remove the wood frame and sheeting roof, interior steel and then dispose of the concrete block of the 2-story building. Funds derived from the sale of the steel in the structure will be used to off-set the cost of the necessary equipment rental to raze the building. We would need to borrow a dump-truck from either the street or water department to dispose of the block, if that is at all possible. |
