January 4th

  • The NMVFD was called to the Wetzel County Hospital on the report of a natural gas smell in the area.  Arriving fire crews searched the structure and found the source to be 2 natural gas heaters being used to dry paint in the new ER section of the hospital.  Engine 202, Engine 207, and Rescue 204 responded to the call with 8 firefighters.

 

 

January 5th

  • Company 2 was dispatched to a residence on Third Street in New Martinsville on the report of a kitchen fire with occupants still in the structure.  Upon arrival firefighters found the fire had been extinguished and the occupants were all out of the house.  The NMVFD used positive pressure fans to remove the remaining smoke from the structure and a thermal imaging camera to check inside the walls and ceiling for any hot spots in these areas.  Engine 202, Engine 207, and Rescue 204 responded to the call with 8 firefighters.

 

 


 

January 11th

  • Firefighters from Company 2 responded two mile out Doolin Run Road on the report of a two vehicle automobile accident.  Upon arrival the occupants of both vehicles were out and being treated by WCEMS.  Firefighters on scene provided scene safety and traffic control while tow trucks removed the vehicles from the roadway.  Rescue 204 and Rescue Engine 209 responded to the call with 4 firefighters.

 

 

January 12th

  • The NMVFD responded to a residence on Glenview Drive on the report of a Carbon Monoxide alarm.  Arriving firefighters found the occupants had exited the structure and were being treated by EMS.  Firefighters checked the house and found elevated levels of Carbon Monoxide and found the probable cause to be a faulty furnace.  The residence was ventilated and returned to the owner.  Ops 201 and Engine 207 responded with 5 firefighters.

  • Firefighters responded to the intersection of State Route 2 and Foundry Street on the for a two vehicle automobile accident.  The head-on style collision required two occupants to be transported to the hospital.  Rescue Engine 209, Rescue 204,  and Ops 201 responded to the call with 12 firefighters.
